Picking my different Google AdWords was a interesting experience. At first I thought any keywords that mention “jewelry” would be useful to people at my website. But I come to find that a lot of these words can bring the wrong people to my website, therefore wasting my money and their time. This week I learn the importance of using the correct AdWords to funnel people to my website. It’s very important to use exact on the words I use and not broad terms. These exact matches will help save money, and help increase the purchases at my website. Broad matches are my enemy while exact matches are my friends. Since I have opened, a homemade jewelry website it is important for me to exclude words like expensive, high-end, luxury, fancy, and etc. words that would represent a high-end jewelry store. This is not who we are. Now words like homemade, cute, friendship, bracelets, homemade earrings, all these would be good AdWords for my Google advertising.

Choosing a legal Structure – I have had many businesses in the past and am familiar with the different legal structures. Right off hand I believe an LLC is the way to go on this adventure. There are some pros and cons to this decision. I reviewed and refreshed my knowledge on the different structures available. Since I will be selling my daughters jewelry and possibly be throwing some affiliates on there. I do not seeing us becoming the next Signet aka nationwide jewelry store. I like that with the LLC I do not have to have shareholder meetings and record the minutes. The cons as I mentioned earlier is if this business grows I will be restricted to my options.

I would set this up by first picking a name for this business. Then I would pick a registered agent. Then submit the articles of incorporation LLC-1. Back in the days I would have to locate a courier in Sacramento. Then I would fax the articles to a courier that would then they would go submit them to the court. Luckily, now the courts have gone green and everything can be done on the internet. Once I receive my certificate from a receipt letting me know my LLC now exist? Then creating an operating agreement where I will put down the purpose of my business. Then submit a statement of information with all the contact info of the agent’s name. The get an EIN or more employer’s identification number. Then pay the annual franchise tax and then etc. etc. etc.

I thought when I chose Shopify as my website host and website builder that it was Google Analytics friendly. I remember that Shopify highly suggested that I use their analytics instead of Googles. That their analytics was compatible if not superior to Googles, but if I needed to use Google analytics, it was available. What I did not realize was how hard it was to add the code or maybe a better a treasure hunt. I still do not know if it installed correctly. I am in the process of testing the code.

I posted this code into the “Head” section in my website under “Theme.Liquid”

On Google Ads I clicked on the Analytics section and connected the two accounts.

I believe by using google analytics that I will be able to see where I can improve my analytics.

I feel website design is not goal as much as a journey. I have started this website with my daughter and there are always changes that we want to make. I was upset about Shopify’s website design. I had done my homework on a lot of options to look for when choosing a website host and builder. One option I missed, was the flexibility of where I can place links. My daughter has made a lot of videos about our website on Tiktok. I wanted to advertise it boldly on my website, but cant do it. Shopify does not allow me to place links where I want and the option I have to advertise social media is a little icon in the bottom of the screen. If I saw the developer of this option, I would stick my arms out and extend two fingers, well actually thumbs. Then point them straight down for a double thumbs down and probably raspberry at him too.

Week 5 Keywords

Week 05 Keyword

Characteristics of a good keyword is it will help drive the customers to my website. It will help find out the right customers who are looking for exactly what I am selling. The more I narrow in on the search perimeters the better chance I will have that I will to not waste money on clicks for products people do not want. Also, a good keyword utilizes the keyword search and does not waste money on futile clicks. A good keyword can also be a unique or misspelled words. This can find an over looked nitch. I did this with the spelling of Jewerly or is it Jewlrey or is it Jewellery.

Characteristics of a bad keyword are too broad of ones can flood the customer with options. This can be useful if all the options were of the desired variety. Also, a certain term could mean different things bringing confusion and unwanted desire to a visitor or searcher.

week 8 tuning up ads

I learned a lot of different key principles. That will help my ads be more productive. The main one that I learned about was the ability to choose the positioning of certain headlines.

Created a website on shopfiy. It was very helpful to watch videos. I learned how to be able to take payments. This was tedious process of installing a two step process password authenticator. I use google authenticator. It created several passwords I could download and use. I also picked a good plan that was in my budget. I like how it gave options on setup and drop shipping and creating a name. I also like how I can change my store name at anytime. I like how I can also use my iPhone to take payments on the go. There is a lot options on Shopify. I highly suggest for any one creating a new business. I was able to verify my email. Shopify is very user friendly. Now lets see if we can get some sales.
